The book
Becoming a Man After God
A biblically based framework to succeed with a thriving faith and family.
Where it started
It was one of my best years ever. I was pastoring, teaching college and high school, finishing a doctorate, running a business, and raising three kids with Sarah. Every item on that list was good. None of it was sin.
In the second half of that year I hit a wall in my own kitchen. Dehydrated, exhausted, going down. Sarah caught me before I fell. The doctor told me to slow down.
I was doing all the right things, even godly things, and drowning.
I had been telling God everything I was doing for Him. I had never asked what He wanted to do with me.
The five pillars
Five pillars. In this order.
It is a framework, not a system. The same five pillars look different for a man with toddlers than for a man with teenagers, different for a pastor than for a plumber. What does not change is the order.
Most men start at number four. This book is about starting at number one.

Who it is for
The man who is busy with good things and running on empty
He is not in crisis. He is not far from God. He is just tired in a way sleep does not fix, and he suspects the problem is not how hard he is working but what he is working toward. If that is you, this was written for you. I was that man.
