How this started
I was saved as a boy at a little Baptist church in Mount Carmel, Tennessee, and baptized in a river. By thirteen I had walked away. In the spring of 2012, working a control tower at FOB Edinburgh in Helmand province, a Staff Sergeant on tower duty with me started talking about Jesus. It was the first time as a grown man I looked into Him for myself. Not long after, I bought a study Bible.
I came home that September. Found a church that December. What kept me was not the preaching. It was a men’s Bible study. A room of men, every week.
One man pointed me back. A room of men kept me. Everything I have built since is an attempt to hand that to somebody else.
What I talk about
Most men are trying to lead something they have never been shown how to lead
Nobody handed us a plan. We watched whoever was around and guessed at the rest. Some of us guessed well. Most of us are still improvising and hoping the people we love do not notice.
I am not interested in making you feel bad about that. I am interested in giving you something to do on Tuesday.
